Confidant

She decides to open,
a small crack forms in her wall,
she releases a smidgen of her despair,
entrusts in another,
yet holding back her true emotions.

Still unsure;
is this real or a false hope?
Taking a chance,
she relents to life’s pressure,
she confides,
trusting her instincts,
hoping she’s made the right choice.

Time passes,
fear and regret,
doubts creeping in;
Was she right?

Trust isn’t the issue,
it’s their want in this partake;
they might have offered
but did they expect an answer?

Uncertain she decides to withdraw,
to hide it all once more,
carrying on with life,
pushing forward alone.

Masked,
her pretence more than before,
an anguish hidden
until the trust is true
