Deep Withdrawal

Her throat tightens,
the tongue dries,
Her eyes close,
they sting,
salt water lingering,
caressing the lids.

Her hands shake,
feeling cold and clammy,
her head is heavy,
but she pushes forward.

She’s cocooned in invisible pain,
her mind wandering,
thoughts dancing,
she’s screaming,
but no one can hear her.

She withdraws deeper,
her feelings tightening their hold,
suffocating,
the feeling of loneliness engulfs.

She can’t breathe,
a heavy weight forces her down.
The darkness closes in…
